Welcome back

Welcome back from spring break!
We hope you all  had a restful, enjoyable week. It's so great to see all the kids back and hear about all of their fun adventures.

Morning Activities....
Puzzle, completed.

Making pictures with pattern blocks.

Morning Meeting.....
We have come so far since the first day of Kindergarten. We can read the chart by ourselves. We can even read a word that is pointed out on the chart. They can read words at random! Very impressive.

What comes after? Beth says a number and the kids have to know what comes next.

Math....
Grab, Guess and Count! Our latest and greatest of games...
Grab a large handful of cubes out of the box. Take a minute to look at your hand and estimate with your best guess how many you think you have, write it down. Then use the ten's frames board to help keep track of your cubes as you count them out to figure out how close you were to your guess.

We are learning "more than" and "less than"! (I'm pretty sure I didn't learn this until I was in 3rd grade!)

Book Corner....
Chicken of the Family by Mary Amato.  "Henrietta's two older sisters love to tease her. When they try to convince her that she's actually a chicken instead of a little girl, it's pretty hard to believe at first. But the evidence is all there: her legs are kind of yellow, and her toes are kind of long."

How to Ride a Giraffe by Alice Cary.  A funny book about a little girl who shares her story about what you need to ride a giraffe.  We use this book to introduce our "How To" writing books that we will be working on over the next few weeks.

Sometimes reading with a buddy is so much fun....
 ...and we take turns!
Ethan and Jared reading to each other.

Language Arts.....
We have been learning about the digraphs. Today we learned about the "ch" digraph.
We continue to rotate groups for our "Fit Time" so we are in smaller groups. We are reading our beginner books.

Oh warm weather we missed you......
Every church should look like this one.

A happy world is made!

Happy to be outside and feel the warm spring sun! Here's a few snap shots.

Health Class.....
We wrapped up our time with Genieve today. She read us the book In Our Hearts.
Then we drew a picture of how we felt in our hearts.

Griffin "my heart feels funny."
Hunter "My heart feels excited because I'm going to the toy store after school."
Sydney "My heart always feels happy."
Kora "My heart feels happy."

Evelyn "I feel calm."
Davern "I feel happy and calm."

Heavier or lighter?

REMINDER..... We start back with ECO tomorrow, Friday! Please come prepared!!! Dress appropriately, bring a water bottle and a snack. Thank you!

Morning Meeting......

JJ and Evelyn are the teachers for the calendar! Nice job friends!

One of our morning greeting was to say something that we liked about the Warren School. Here are a few things that were said about what we like...
"I like what we learn."
"I like gym because it gives us energy."

Another morning meeting game we played, which is new to us, is called  "I have... Who has...?"
We all received a card and it said something like "I have stick. Who has Brown?" These cards have the pictures to help the kids read the cards.

Book Corner....
Owl Moon by Jane Yolen.  "Late one winter night a little girl and her father go owling. The trees stand still as statues and the world is silent as a dream. Whoo-whoo-whoo, the father calls to the mysterious nighttime bird. But there is no answer.  Wordlessly the two companions walk along, for when you go owling you don't need words. You don't need anything but hope. Sometimes there isn't an owl, but sometimes there is."

Language Arts.....
We have been working really hard with our book boxes and reading our books. So much hard work going on in here (we think they could be 1st graders already!).

We are teachers.....reviewing our letter names, picture clue and sounds.

Math.....
Beth showed us two pictures, one was a small mouse with the word "lighter" and the other was a picture of an elephant with the word "heavier."  We are talking about comparing. We brought out the scales today to figure out what things are heavier and lighter.

"How about this box of tissues and this movie case?"
"Can you guess which will be the lighter one and which will be the heavier one?"

They are the same!

"Which is heavier the Marker or hat?"
The hat was heavier.

We did this for many different comparisons of objects. We found so many that were heavier and so many lighter. It's hard to tell sometimes with the naked eye that things that looks like the same or about the same size, do not always weigh the same.

MAKERS SPACE.......
Today was our last day for our Artist and Resident making things. We have had so much fun! You can check out this site to see what we've been up to at Warren School. Thank you PTO for sponsoring this program.  https://sites.google.com/view/warren-maker-ed/home
