Morning activities....
Coloring, clay and pattern blocks.... oh so much fun!
Morning greeting....
One student was in the chair on the other side of the room while the other kids sat quietly. One student had a turn to say "good morning _______" in a strange voice. The student in the chair had to guess their classmates voice. If they were correct, the student with the funny voice got to sit in the chair for a chance to guess.
Sharing ...

Fiona shared her piece of coral and the skeleton of a Meerkat.
In Language Arts we have been working on blending and reading three letter words. Consonant, vowel, consonant words. We are focusing on listening for the vowel sound in the words to distinguish between long and short vowel sounds. We are tapping out the sounds in a word and then find the corresponding letters to each tap in order to spell the word. We have also been learning some "Trick Words" which are words that are not tapped out. These words need to be memorized. i.e: was, is, it, or, the, on, etc. Many kids have been able to take some of their trick words home that they have been able to memorize over a period of time. We highly recommend that you work with your kids on those words to keep them fresh in their minds.
After our lunch recess Beth read to the class I Wish that I Had Duck Feet by Theo LeSieg
Many kids came back from Library and books were being read everywhere in the room. Not prompted! Way to go readers, love to see this happening during their Free Choice time!!!
A friendly reminder that it is great to have the extra set of clothes for kids this time of year. It is gloomy and rainy, but believe us, we are going outside even if it is raining! So don't forget to send in those rain coats and rain boots in with your child. Extra socks for the wet feet, or those extra pants/shorts for the puddle that just didn't get out of our way when we came down the slide! Thanks in advance for making it easier to get through the day with dry clothes if needed.
