Library Field Trip

Morning Activities....

Oscar and Sedsel are the only two who wanted to play
the word pop and match game.

Coloring table at it's best.

Glitter glue art.
Ethan made a piece of art with glitter glue.

More coloring.

Many gamers for the pop and match word game.

Loving the glitter and coloring!

A little reading.

Morning Meeting....
Switching things up. The chart didn't have information instead it had questions. Rather then the repetitive norm the kids have known and read by memory, but they had to think about and read the words. They have truly learned many skills so they are able to read most of the words.

We did our sight word matching. This time, after we matched our words Beth created a sentence using the words.

"2, 4, 6, 8, who do we appreciate? (Student's name, student's name, student's name!)"
Beth "What does appreciate mean?"
Skyler " a way to say thank you."
Taber "A way to care about and love someone."
Beth "Today is appreciate Heidi Green, administrative assistants day. We will write her a note and go sing her a song today"

Did you know....(everyone had a chance to say a fact they knew).
The moon is a big start.
Penguins lay eggs.
1000 plus 100 is 1100.
Did you know dogs are good swimmers.
Robots are real.
Flower pedals fall off.
Some cats are scared of puppies.
The sun is stronger than the earth.
Some dogs chase cats.
Hundreds stop at 100.
Elephants are slow walkers.
Flying cars are actually real in some places.
Rocket ships can go to any planet accept the really hot ones.
The sun is bigger than the moon.
You can see the moon when it is the morning time.
Some sharks don't have to keep moving to breath. Some can pump water over their gills.
You can see the great wall of china from space.
Our puppy had to get 12 shots.

Books we listened too.....
Berenstain Bears and the Substitute Teacher "Brother Bear is just starting to get nervous about tomorrow’s big history test when Teacher Bob announces that the students will have a substitute teacher for the next three days. According to mischievous Too-Tall Grizzly, there’s only one way to deal with a grouch-puss old sub: pranks! Instead of studying, Too-Tall, Brother Bear, and Cousin Freddy stay up all night coming up with wacky jokes."

If You Give A Pig A Pancake by Laura Numerof . "
If you give a pig a pancake, she'll want some syrup to go with it. You'll give her some of your favourite maple syrup, and she'll probably get all sticky, so she'll want to take a bath. She'll ask you for some bubbles. When you give her the bubbles..."

Berenstain Bears Go Out To Eat  "Mama Bear finds herself coping with Papa Bear's penchant for overeating during a special trip to the local restaurant, in a boxed set that come complete with a sturdy board book and a plush Mama Bear."

The Robbery At the Diamond Dog Diner by Eileen Christelow. "Diamond robbers are in town! Lola Dog, co-owner of the Diamond Dog Diner, wears her diamonds when she cooks, so her friend, Glenda Feathers, suggests a hiding place for the jewels -- inside her eggs.

Count the Monkeys by Mac Barnett. "Kids will giggle as they count all the animals that have frightened the monkeys off the pages. Full of fun reader interactions and keeps readers guessing until the very last page!"

Grasshopper on the Road  by Arnold Lobel. "I am on my way!"One morning Grasshopper finds a lovely road to follow. Off he goes on his journey, past plenty of busy characters. They wonder why Grasshopper isn't more like them. But Grasshopper -- well, he is happy just walking down the road. "
We love our stories!!!

Outside Fun!!!!!
With all this extra time each day, and wonderful sunny weather, we have taken advantage and gotten outside.

Circus Performers!

Making potion!

Playing with Taber's Train.

Making a birds nest.

Making leprechaun traps.

Math....
Lots of counting, lots of writing numbers. Practice makes awesomeness! What's the number before 18? Kids would write the number 17. We look for correct placement of 10's and 1's. We practice numbers all the way up to 100!

Library Field Trip....
A walk down the path to the local library.

We learned who the children's librarian is, Amanda.

We had lots of fun exploring. Believe it or not you can play with toys in the library as well as read books. We hope you can take some time to get to the library over the summer.

Puppets and blocks at the library?! Too much fun.

Puppet show and Dress up while reading a story.
