Apples and Bananas

In Language Arts we introduced "Turn and Talk." Turn and Talk is an oral language support strategy that provides students a foundation for interactions and to formulate ideas and share their thinking with another student. This is a great way for kids to connect to the book with something that has happened to them in their life. As well as one way of becoming great readers.  Sometimes they may connect with the character. Maybe they can relate to how the character is feeling in the book, or can connect with what the character is doing. They will create a deeper appreciation for the book when they are able to connect to the story.

We learned a great song that will help us understand more with our vowels and how vowels are a big piece to writing words. See the song below. They all loved singing this song.

Apples and Bananas

We practiced writing words on our chart in the morning. Kids come in each day and have an activity to do on the morning chart. Today they had to "sound out a word." During our writing block the kids were writing words that the teacher called out on their white boards. Ask your child what words they can sound out, they are all really having fun sounding our and making words.

In Math we continue to learn about shapes. We are going around the room to find two-dimensional and three-dimensional shapes in different orientation and sizes.

Books we've been reading.......
Pete the Cat Saves Christmas by Eric Litwin
Pete's Big Lunch, by Eric Litwin.
Pengunins, Penguins, Everywhere! by Bob Barner
