WELCOME TO KINDERGARTEN 2019-2020

WELCOME TO KINDERGARTEN!!!!

What an incredible week we have had in Kindergarten! We have a fabulous group of kids. Most know each other from P3 and/or P4. However, while there are a couple new kids, I will say you wouldn't know it, they are all getting along so so well and really enjoying each others company. This weeks focus has been on community building, rules and straight up fun! Participating in activities together as a class is helpful in building relationships, problem solving, etc. They build a sense of trust and togetherness among peers and the teachers. We encourage different topics of conversation, problem solve together and create new experiences. We are building lots of teamwork opportunities. All of which will help your child develop a strong sense of self and healthy social skills. Best of all we  have fun and enjoy each others company.  Sure it's not to say that when the "honeymoon" phase is over, that we won't run into speed bumps, but even those help us to conquer our 5 and 6 year old selves to continue to grow.

NOTES:
* Please make sure your child has a water bottle. It's so much easier for them to drink from their bottles than to send them out in the lobby to drink from the fountain.
* Send in snacks for your child. Or feel free to send some in to leave in the class for any to use should a snack be forgotten. You will see us post about that from time to time.
* Make sure your child has appropriate attire for the great outdoors. We go out a lot!
* PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make sure your child knows (as well as us) what his or her after school schedule is.
* Library books are sent home weekly. Thursday is our day for library class, we do check out books and we usually return them at our next class so we can check out another one. I understand there may be book bags that some may have, feel free to use it with your child. If any child doesn't have a book bag (a gift made from Julie in P4 class), let me know and we can hook you up!
* Home/School folders... these have important notes that go home from time to time. You will see this folder weekly. Please review. Return notes or important papers back. Other important papers are your child's work. Please look at it! See what they are doing in class. Take time to go through it with your child and talk about what the papers are. They are great for dinner convos. Later, after you have accumulated a pile, if you want you can use as fire starters!  Only if you make s'mores with them. :-)  But not at first. Enjoy their hard work.

Below is a snapshot of our week, in pictures! As we get into routines we will share more details about what we do. For now, enjoy the smiles! Share this with your children so they better understand why we run around the room taking pictures. Please let us know if you would rather we do not take pictures of your child and post them.

LIFE EVOLVES.....
These kids are going to grow into their life and the changes are going to be so incredible. I hope you enjoy watching your child evolve in this beautiful life. It's a gift to be enjoyed!

We will watch as this beauty evolves into a mystical butterfly. One of three we are watching. This one is just in its chrysalis stage.
(By the way, this chrysalis is outside our classroom door on a piece of plywood. Fingers crossed it's journey here is just what it needed and we are blessed with watching it come to life in a different form.)
