The Circus Is Coming To Town

The Circus is coming to town, featuring your child!!!
That's right folks, Troy Wunderle is in town and is here at Warren as our Artist in residence. He will spend time with us each day between now and next week working on some fun skills. Thanks to the PTO for sponsoring this event.  We will be showing off our tricks on Thursday evening February 5 at 5:30pm at Warren School. We hope you come. All the kids have a roll in this performance and it is sure to bring smiles and laughter. Please have your child dress in brownish clothes to represent they are monkeys in their act. Now on to our tricks! See you at the show!

Morning Meeting.....
Decomposing patterns??? Oh my!!! Who knew these were the words we would learn in Kindergarten. But believe it or not we are. Check out how we do this daily just by doing the calendar. Ask your child about how we review the calendar every day.

Math.....
Measuring and Comparing. We started out with some string! We have compared the different lengths of string that we were given and compared to what Beth had. Using language like "the same", "smaller" and "longer".

We also used our feet to measure the length of spots in the classroom. Here is what we came up with....

Hulla-balloo, hulla balloo, this is what I say to you!
"Move like a monkey."
"Move like a snake."
"move like a frog,"
"Move like a leprachaun hiding his gold."
"Move like a cat."
"Move like a baby."
"Move like Gunny the Turtle."
"Move like a crayon, coloring a picture."
"Move like a kangaroo."

Measuring with Popcycle sticks.....

Human Body.....
Structure and Function. We have been learning so much about our bodies. As you may have noticed we have done a couple activities that have come home. We have been learning about the bones, organs, blood, etc.
Today we talked about why certain things have what they have.
For example a rose with thorns. Why does a rose have thorns? To poke and protect the rose from predators.
What is the structure and function of hands?
Austin : they help you eat.
Ava: helps you pick up things.
Tobin : Part of your body that you can survive with.
Luke : To brush your teeth.
Evelyn : write with your hand.
Laney : play with toys.
Austin : lift weights.
Greta : drive a car.
Fin :Take on and off your clothes.
Ginny : to reach or get into bed.

What are some functions of our feet?
Molly : to walk
Nava: helps move around.
Willow : Get up
Evelyn : skiing
Kick the ball. Run with your feet. Climb.
