ECO FUN

Last week in review.

BUDDY TIME....
We had a great time with buddies this week. We did a "turkey"project. We traced hands, colored our turkeys and wrote what we are thankful for.

Friday we took a hike up into the woods and sat around a fire, had snack, a story and then split off looking for shapes in the woods.
A story around the fire with Dave.

Fire circle!

A cave was found with "Scat" and a circle mushroom on a log.

Exploring

A triangle

Exploring the cave.

Log riding fun.

Balancing on a log.

A heart!

Time to warm up with a little tea.

Triangle sticks and triangle fern.

Looking in a book to figure out what kind of skat we found in the cave.

Climbing couldn't get any better!

Takin' a break.

The magic 22!

Great day in the forest.

Math Quilt

Morning Meeting....

We have some new shapes in the house! Pentagon, heart, hexagon, octagon, oval, etc. We found our match to our piece, shared the color and the shape we thought we had. We also had some new colors that we haven't heard of before too!

Book Corner...
Berenstains Bear and the Prize Pumpkin by Jan Berenstain. "It's time for the annual Bear Country Thanksgiving Festival, and the Bears have entered the pumpkin contest with a vengeance. They may or may not win a blue ribbon, but they certainly do gain a new first-rate appreciation of the true spirit of the holiday and all they have to be thankful for. Full color throughout."

Math......
We had a fun couple rounds of Number Bingo!  We also started a cool project in math.  We are making a math quilt!  Look for our new display when you come for your conference next week!

Langauge Arts.....
Echo came to visit us to introduce the letter Ee. We are really doing well getting though the letters of the alphabet. We focus a lot on the letter recognition as well as a picture clue and using the proper pronunciation.  We love when Beth let's us be the teachers.  We hold up the letter card and "teach" the class the letter, it's key word and the sound it makes.  Lots of fun!

Happy Halloween

Morning Activities....
Happy Halloween!!!!! The kids all looked Spooktacular! Thanks all who were supportive in making sure kids were ready and for helping with getting them undressed and understanding that costumes were not to be worn during the rest of the school day. Here are a few snap shots of kids dressed up doing some table activities.

Book Corner....
Four Scary Stories by Tony Jonhston. "One dark night, an imp, a goblin, and a scalawag get together to tell the scariest stories they can think of--Boy stories . . . Johnston links these short tales with humor and ingenuity while dePaola sets them off with different colors, each creature cavorting with a style all its own."

The Runaway Mummy by Michael Rex. "A hysterical (and creepy) parody of a children's classic! Filled with uproarious illustrations, a beloved classic gets a kindhearted send-up in this utterly monsterized parody from Michael Rex, creator of the New York Times bestselling Goodnight Goon. This is The Runaway Bunny like you've never seen it before."

Language Arts...
We continue to review our letters that we have learned so far, as well as add in a new one. We reviewed our letter D. Today we practiced writing letter D. We also did our "Fit Time" groups where we are all doing different activities to strengthen our letter recognition.
