YOU ROCK!!!!!

YOU ROCK!!!!

You all have hopefully received a rock in your envelope you picked up from school last week. I want to explain why a rock. We are now on our 8th week of not being at school, hard to believe. These last 8 weeks have been very interesting for all. For YOU, for your parents, for us teachers and for our world! We have all gone through some challenges. Some ups and downs! Some great moments that maybe we wouldn't have appreciated as much as we have now. Regardless of your emotions or your experiences over the past 8 weeks, its been done with STRENGTH!
The rock itself is a symbol of strength and endurance. There is the saying, "solid as a rock!" It symbolizes that you have carried the strength to hold on to the various situations you have been through over the last 8 weeks, such as learning from home. Your parents/families turned into your teachers. Not being able to have play dates. Wearing a mask perhaps (how funny is that?!). Not going to your favorite place for dinner. Seeing your classmates on the internet, not in class.  Doing online learning with your teachers, etc. You have shown how to be strong through this and Beth and I are so proud of you, we are proud of your parents/families for navigating these roles. The art on the rock, well, its art! It was a little bit of therapy for me while I too have been finding my way through this time of change. It is me thinking of you all! Every. Single. Day! Beth and I talk daily and we always talk about how proud we are of you all and how much we miss seeing your faces!!!!! So, don't forget it. You matter! You matter to us and we hope you know that. That said, you rock!!!!! Keep up the good work.

Nature notes....
Connie's nature notes......
First time in my life that I have seen a Green Heron. Beautiful colors. Fascinating to watch. It was in our pond, has been visiting frequently. Watch out goldfish!

A Robin decided that my flower garden was a good spot to lay her egg. Hmmm.
Beautiful blue!

Only this time of year to I get to have these around. Marsh Marigold. (Looks like a butter cup.)

Blood root flower, this is a Spring Ephemeral flower.

Fiddleheads! This is one of my favorite spring foods! Right about this time you can go foraging for these guys. Fiddleheads are ferns. But at their early stage, all rolled up, you can harvest and cook up for dinner. Yummy!! (If you've never done this before, please be sure to read up on how to harvest, clean and cook them before eating.)

Have you seen any of these flowers?????????

Where did you go Willow? Did you see any birds on the water?

Look what Hollis found!
Does anyone know what these are?
What will you do with them? Could you use them to write with?

Nava found her "sit spot." Have you?
So peaceful! Great spot.
