Engineers

Each morning when your child comes into class they have a couple things to do. They have to tell Beth if they are having "hot or cold" lunch, sign in at the morning chart and then choose a station to play at!

Ethan and Ryan made "cookie burritos" during morning choice time at the play dough station.

Another fun day in Language Arts. Today we worked with more tools to draw our letters. And we continue to chant our letter. B, F, T, M, N. Ask your child to look for objects in your home(starting with B, F, T, N, M) and see if they can tell you what the object is, the name of the letter that the object starts with and what the sound is that the letter makes.

McCartney making the letter T in the sand box.

Today we pretended to be ENGINEERS!!!
We began our science unit today about Structure and Function: Exploring Design.  In this unit we discover the design process and how engineers have influenced our lives. Today we learned that there are some things that are made naturally, by Mother Nature and there are things made by Engineers. Scientist Beth gave examples, like a car is made by Engineers, or your shoes, bracelets and markers to name a few. As a Scientist we get to draw in our special Scientist notebooks. Master Scientist Beth, asked questions and each young scientist drew pictures that related to her questions. One question that our young scientists were asked and then had the chance to draw was, "Draw an item that has the function of holding water."  Ask your young scientist what were some of the drawings they made in their special notebooks.

Max made hover crafts during free choice time with our building shapes.
