Adding and Subtraction sentences

In math we are working on addition and subtraction sentences and the relationship between the two.  We helped a frog hop on lily pads with numbers on them.  He ate three flies, hop on three lily pads and then he ate four more flies, hop on four more lily pads.  How many flies did he eat?  (You can tell by what number lily pad he landed on!)  Then we used a number line and used cubes to move up and down the number line.  You have 8 strawberries for snack. Put your cube on the number 8.  Then you ate 4 strawberries.  Move your cube back 4 numbers.  How many strawberries do you have left.  (You can tell by what number the cube landed on after you moved it.)  We are moving up and down the number line and writing number sentences to match!  Very tricky stuff!
