Hand bones

Today Deirdre came in to talk to us about poisons everywhere, in the school, in our houses, etc. A couple kids came up with some poisonous things in the house.

McCartney - Ant trap is poisonous
Max - clothing soap

Deirdre showed us a  poster about medicines that look like candy. Its important to remember that medicine is not candy and needs to be taken when a parent is there to tell you its ok.
We played a little game called, Quills up Quills down....
Quills up, Stay away, Quills down, it's ok!
Deirdre showed us many items and as a group we decided if it was ok or not ok. Quill the Porcupine helped us out.
Tums - Quills up, stay away!
Book - Quills down, its ok!
Toothpaste - Quills up, stay away!
Teddy bear - Quills down, its ok!
Toy bike - Quills down, its ok!
Lipstick - Quills up, stay away!
Dish soap - Quills up, stay away!
Orange -  Quills down, its ok!
Soap pods -Quills up, stay away!
Toy ice cream - Quills down, its ok!

Deidre showed us two glasses of what looked like water. She did an experiment to show us with food coloring and baking soda. What do you do if you see a glass of water that maybe has been sitting around? Is it water or poison?  The experiment showed that sometimes we don't know what it is that we are going to drink or eat. It is important to ask an adult before ingesting it!

Sharing.....
Maddie - brought in her American Girl doll.

Mazie - brought in a special present she got from Santa.

Savi showed us her papers.

Evan shared his "name" stamp and how it works.
