Hulabalu Hulabalu

Morning Meeting...
Counting, reading the calendar and clapping out syllables. "How many syllables are in October?" Jack, "3!" "How many syllables are in today?" "2"

Question on the chart today "How many tables are in our room?" (Tricky question today.) Kids walked around the room and counted the tables in the room. Then filled in their answer on the chart. The answer was 8!

Morning greeting...using a ball, say good morning to someone and then gently roll the ball to that person.

Then we played "Hulabalu, hulabalu, this is what i say to you ______________."
Hulabalu, hulabalu, this is what I say to you, hop like a bunny.

Hulabalu, hulabalu, this is what I say to you, tip toe around the room.

Hulabalu, hulabalu, this is what I say to you, float like a ghost.

Language Arts.....
We started off by reading a rhyming Halloween book
There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Bat by Lucille Colandro. The old lady manges to swallow a bat, owl, cat, ghost, goblin and even a wizard.

We reviewed our letters. Individually recognizing the letter names, picture clue and the sound it makes. Magic C Bunny came back today and we got to rock out to his song. We reviewed how magic C helps make letters like O, C, G and Q.

Book Corner......
Arthur's Halloween by Marc Brown. "Arthur finds everything about Halloween scary, including his little sister's costume, his morning snack, and the big house on the corner. "

Henry and Mudge Take the Big Test by Cynthia Bryant
"Henry and Mudge enroll in Jack Papp's Dog School, but Mudge is not a perfect student--he has other things on his mind. On the last day is the big test. Will Mudge pass and get a gold ribbon? "

Spanish Class....

Profe at the end of the class, everyone singing together good bye in Spanish.

Writing....
Goal setting. We continue to work on creating goals. Today there was a twist. Instead of "I can _____." We did "I can't ________." Each kid worked on a picture of something they could not do. We helped them write their sentence. But we spoke a lot about even though we "can't" do something, we "can" work on getting better at things we "can't" do.
