L for Lobster

Morning Meeting....
Review the calendar. We are going from November to December tomorrow. We looked at ALL the days we have had in November. December is the last month of the year! When December is over we start a new year. We did a quick shape review, everyone gets half of a shape and goes around to find their match.

Math....
We read Shape Spotters by Megan E Bryant.  "Come along with Ms. Carey's class on a scavenger hunt for shapes at school! With rhyming clues and hidden shapes in every picture for kids to spot, this book is the perfect introduction to shapes for beginning readers."

We got many different shapes to play with. For a little bit kids played with the shapes they got and sorted them by shape, size and some by color. We then looked for specific shapes. "Find a shape that has a curve. Find a shape that has three sides." etc.  We learned a new shape called the parallelogram.

Parallelogram

Playing with shapes. Listening to clues about a shape to find the correct one in our piles.

Language Arts...
We reviewed all of the letters and then counted how many letters we have learned. We have learned 19 letters so far. Ashlyn "is there 100 letters?" Beth "That's a good questions, there are actually 26 letters." We then learned about our new letter Ll. We looked a few objects that began with the letter L. Lobster, lock, lincoln log, letter L, lego, lip balm.
Sedsel shared some foreign money. "This is some money that came from Singapore, you can see through it. These are from Malaysia."
Thayer "Where did you get them?"
Sedsel "My dad."
Narumi "Why are they colorful?"
Sedsel "Their money is different."
Lenora "Were you with your dad when he got them?"
Sedsel "No."

Narumi told us about something she has at home. "I have a notebook that is pink and it has a little panda on it."
Willow "I like your story.
Stell a" Where did you get it
Narumi "From Christmas from my Grandma.
Nora "Did it have dots?
Narumi "No it had stripes."

REMINDER.....
Mother Nature is finicky. No telling what kind of weather we will have. Please make sure your child comes to school with the ability to dress according to the weather. That includes hat, mittens/gloves (preferably ones that can resist water, snow pants, warm boots, jacket, neck warmer. We are outside at least 2 times a day. Thank you for your support.
