Clouds

Reminder....
Mother's Day Follies is this Friday May 11th. Practice today after school from 3:30-5:30. AND Thursday from 3:30 to 5:30.

SNACK Alert.......
We are in school an hour longer. By 2:30, these kids are starving! Please send in extra snacks for your kids or please provide a snack we can share with kids who don't have enough. Thank you.

Morning meeting...
Counting by 1's starting at 100 to the day of school we are in (146). We did flash dots. Kids have to shout out the number of dots that Beth has on a page. They have mastered this! Super cool to see how much their brains have grown.

Books we read.....
The Tiny Seed by Eric Carle. "The fascinating story of the life cycle of a flower told through the adventures of a tiny seed by the beloved author/illustrator Eric Carle. Young readers will cheer at the happy outcome of this exciting tale."

Buiscuit's Big Friend by Alyssa Satin Capucilli "Biscuit's new friend, Sam the dog, can do a lot of great things, like run fast and fetch big sticks, and Biscuit wants to prove that he can do the same, in an adorable tale about friendly competition and one determined little puppy."

A little more Science....
It's that time of year to plant a little something. Yesterday we started some seeds in our classroom at the end of our very long days. Kids got to fill a container square with soil, added seeds and watered! Very cute. Many have done this before. Some have not. We asked on the morning chart how long they think it would be for seeds to emerge? Lots of great answers from 11-100! Ask your child if they remember what kind of seeds we are growing. (hint: Kale) :-)

Math....
We did more counting. Today we worked with partners to count different manipulatives to make groups of 10s and then figure out how many all together.  They did some great counting.  Some of the things that they counted were over 100!

Four Winds.....
Clouds! Stacey and Rachel (and Vera Mae) came to visit us and teach us about clouds. We talked about these types of clouds, cumulous, stratus, cirrus. We made our own clouds with cotton balls. We also went outside and looked at the clouds in the sky and identified the cirrus clouds.  We blew bubbles in the air and foud that there was a lot of wind that blew our bubbles in different directions.
