REMINDER...
Field trip money is due! Please send in $8.50 for your child to go to the Flynn this Friday, May 4th. Also, don't forget to send your child with a cold lunch and water bottle that day. If you have questions or are unable to pay the $8.50 let us know, we can help.

Morning Activities...

Morning Meeting....
We did our usual counting and have gotten to the 140th day. We read our chart. And went around the circle and did "What's the news?" Always great start to the day as so many kids have something they are itching to share with their classmates.

Book Corner.....
Soccer Crazy by Bruno, Colin McNaughton.  "A slightly overweight new bear in the neighborhood, finally gets a chance to play on the local soccer team. He’s only a substitute player, but on the day of the biggest game he is suddenly called in to a tie game with only a minute to go!
Soccer Crazy is a tale of overcoming adversity by having the courage to persevere.
Eric Carle books....we are reading many of the books by Eric Carle, the kids are really excited for these and enjoying that they are all by the same author. You might have one around in your house.
How I Became A Pirate by Melinda Long. "Pirates have green teeth—when they have any teeth at all. I know about pirates, because one day, when I was at the beach building a sand castle and minding my own business, a pirate ship sailed into view."

Math....
Number Beep! Listen to the numbers counted, listen for the beep. You have to write on your boards what the "beep" number is. "33, 34, 35, 36, beep! If you wrote 37, you are correct." Lots of consentration!!!

Finger flash!!! We are getting trickier. Flashing with our fingers numbers up to 20. Then in reverse kids have to show numbers that are called out like, 16. Then we went on to working with Cuisenaire rods (worth 10 cubes) and single cubes.  Understanding 10's and 1's place.

Language Arts...
Choose your own activity! There were options today to pick from. We had Fireworks Sight words. Folder time, reading on your own, or Lexia. Lots of great work happening.

Bus Evacuation Drill....
We do practice this! Today was the day. Definately an interesting conversation if you want to chat with your child about it and get their perspective on this. It's really great to watch this drill as big kids really step up to help make this smooth and safe for all of the kids.
