Writers Workshop

High Fives Foundation was at school this morning giving us a presentation on the B.A.S.I.C.S.(Being Aware Safe in Critical Situations) on mountain sports safety. We watched a little bit of a documentary about athletes who have sustained injury, but have been provided resources and inspiration to those who have suffered life altering injuries. A pamphlet and stickers have gone home with each child.

We started by reading The Gingerbread Man by Jim Aylesworth. We are really enjoying partner reading in Language Arts. We continue with letter sounds and names as well as writing those letters.

Willis and Ethan partner reading with the book
Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See? by Eric Carle

Math continued with Eight is great!  Lots of comparing and matching.  Making combinations of 8. See letter sent home in folders for more info.

We had another session of Writers Workshop. These kids are really getting into it. Not only are they having fun drawing their story, but sounding out the words and writing the words down on their paper.  It's so exciting to see the growth.

Fiona writing about her story. Lots of detail in her story.

Book read today... The Cow Who Fell In The Canal by Phyllis Krasilovsky

We had Art and Music at the end of the day today as well.
